Summer Soccer

We debated for awhile about signing the kids up for summer soccer.  The games are all during the week which is nice so it doesn't take your weekend.  However, they're in the evenings so it is HOT.  I ended up talking Tara into signing Eliana up too so we all did it to get them on the same team.  It was the day before the first game and we still hadn't heard from a coach.  Paul called the league and they said since we signed up so late they would all have to be split up on separate teams....."unless he wanted to coach?!"  So, with that,  we went from not sure we were going to sign them up to Paul being the coach.  We're glad we made the choice though because they are loving it.  Colin has just really gotten the hang of it and Audrey is a natural and so fun to watch.  They have some difficulty with daddy being the coach and wanting his attention when he has to give it to other kids but it's been going okay.

Audrey was very excited when she got her new cleats!

Excited to be part of the team!

This was our game on Thursday.  For a change, it wasn't 102 and sunny.  It actually rained, poured!  The kids had fun playing in the rain once Paul told them to think of it as a splash pad and sprinklers.  Audrey was still getting over being sick so once it started raining she hid out under the umbrella.

A video of them playing. The first part of the clip is Colin getting the ball and taking it to score, the next clip is him making a good defense move. Audrey is in a skirt in the clip and you can see how she takes control of the ball when she wants to and has some pretty fancy foot work.

July 4th!

What a day July 4th was!!  I got up early and went to the gym.  I finished working out and was at work at 630 am.  We rushed to get the patients seen that really needed to be seen so we could get out in time to make it home to parades with our kids.  Paul has taken the kids to the Granite Parade in our neighborhood the past couple of years and I've always been working.  We made it work this year to make sure I could be there too.

The kids had so much fun at the parade.  First, it was hot!  So hot!!  The parade is pretty much our neighbor's in decorated cars or kids on bikes throwing candy.   The kids love it!

The parade started with a firetruck and police on motorcycles and Audrey thought it was too loud!

After the parade we walk over to the church parking lot and the neighborhood puts on a carnival.  The games are all like 50 cents and the kids get prizes.  They also have food(hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream, nachos) also for like 50 cents.

The games are like this one where you shoot a water gun to knock ping pong balls off golf pegs!

The kids loved them all!

They had this cute little photo booth set up too!

After the carnival we all went home and took naps.  I woke up feeling pretty sick. I'd been fighting an infection all week and it picked the holiday to win.  So, Paul headed to the pool with the kids and I headed to the instacare for some antibiotics.  They had fun swimming but I was pretty miserable the rest of the night.  We had to work the next day so we weren't able to go out to fireworks so we did some in the driveway.  The kids love doing it.  One of these years we'll get them to a real firework show.  The 4th will be on Friday next year right.....we'll do it then!
