"I DID IT"

Paul took Colin up skiing again this weekend. He did better and was actually able to stop a few times on his own.....however, not quite in this video. Paul also said that he enjoyed it much more this time.

Skiing and Painting

Yesterday Paul took Colin up to Alta for his first day of skiing this year.
This afternoon we did some painting.
The masterpieces they created

"Foreign Object in Nose" Kid

Colin was this kid at the ER today. On Thursday evening Colin told me how he had stuck something in his nose at daycare that day but then they got it out. We had a talk about how we don't stick things in our noses and how he wouldn't do it again. However, I failed to actually look in his nose to make sure it was all okay. Since I believed him that he put something up there, I mistakenly believed him that they got it out. Fast forward to this morning. Colin starts complaining that his nose hurts. Awhile later he starts bleeding pretty bad. It stops and then he sneezes and it starts again, quite a bit of blood. I take a closer look and realize his nose is swollen. I finally remember the conversation on Thursday and look up his nose....there it is. This(not the penny) is what was in his nose.
Since it's Sunday morning and no offices are open, we head to the ER. They check us in and take us back to the room. The nurse asks the desk "which room are we putting 'foreign object in nose kid'?" I can not remember what Colin had told me he put up there and he's reluctant to talk about it. I ask him again and he tells me about a "ring that you put on your finger. It broke and then I put it in my nose." I talk to Colin about being brave and how they're going to have to pull the ring out of his nose. The nurse comes in and starts talking about how when it's been in there awhile the object often starts to grow into the nose and they need an ENT specialist to get it out. Or, it could create a hole in the septum(I think that's what it's called). She starts to get me nervous. We get Colin up onto the table so she can take a closer look. She gets the light up to his nose and tries to look inside. He's getting fussy but doing pretty well considering the circumstances. She realizes there's too much blood in there and calls someone to bring in suction. Colin sneezes....a big gob of blood comes out. She checks in it to see if the object is in it but it's not. She looks into Colin's nose and doesn't see it there either. I look around and find it laying on his lap. He had sneezed it out with some force and it flew. They double checked into his nose and made sure it didn't look like there was any damage. The nurse said the size of the object was impressive to be in his nose, especially since it was there 3 days. The dr told us what signs of infection to be on the lookout for. They gave Colin a popsicle for doing so well and we were on our way home. We've talked a lot now about not putting things in your nose. Hopefully we don't have anything like this again.

Jump Jump Jump

On Saturday we took the kids to a bounce house. They had SOO much fun and it was great because they burned off so much energy that they slept great that night. We'll definitely be going back this winter. It was a cute place. It felt really clean(for what it was). They had a little snack bar with things like cheese sticks and yogurt, not just a bunch of junk.
Audrey was not afraid of anything. She ran around that place and wouldn't let you help her with any of it.

Yo Gabba Gabba

Last week we took the kids to see Yo Gabba Gabba.
They really put on a great show but our kids were not too sure about it. Colin cried when they came out with the opening song because it was too loud. He cried and begged to go home at intermission because he was afraid of it coming back. However, overall he did really like it and have fun.
Singing a song about hugs
Good Bye On the bus back to the car
When we got home and asked Colin if he liked it he said "Can we go again? I only cried a little bit, I won't cry next time."

Audrey's first tram ride

Today we took the kids up to Snowbird to ride the tram. It was their customer appreciation weekend and you could ride the tram for the "cost" of just a can of food to donate to the food bank. It was a beautiful day but COLD. It was only 12 degrees at the top and really windy.

Playing in Leaves

We checked another fall "must do" off the list. The other day when I got home with the kids my dad had a leaf pile all ready for the kids to play in. Just in time too....it snowed a ton a couple days later.

Arches, Amasa Back, and a Mouse

We had a great trip to Moab this weekend. We went down there with my dad, Tara and Ben, and Jason and Lindsay. We were able to get some hiking and biking in. It was my dad's first trip down so it was fun to show him around. The weather was great. It was cool in the mornings.evenings but was perfect hiking weather during the day. On Friday night we got in around 5:30 and headed right to Arches. We went over to the Windows to just do a small walk with the kids and give my dad an introduction to Moab. It was sunset and so pretty.
After the Windows, we went to town and had dinner and then headed to our place to get situated. We ended up staying at a house that was part of a hostel. We obviously knew our accommodations wouldn't be top notch but they prided themselves on being "clean and affordable". Here's a couple of pictures of the house we stayed in.
The house was 3 bedrooms and 3 baths so it was nice to have the extra space. You can tell from the pictures that it was VERY outdated, but it did seem clean. That is until we found a mouse in our food. I HATE mice. I don't do mice. However, I do understand that a house that is often empty is more likely to have issues. We managed the weekend but I had a hard time going into the kitchen after that. Saturday morning we went on a hike to Corona Arch.
Colin had a lot of fun listening to his echo After our hike we took the kids back for lunch and put them down for naps. We then headed out for our ride on Amasa Back. It was a lot of fun. The entry into the trail is impossible and I initially thought Tara was crazy for taking us there. Once we got in, it was really fun though. It was a really pretty ride too.
Saturday night we had fun out to dinner and walking Main Street. Colin and Eliana had a lot of fun playing together. On Sunday morning we went and hiked Delicate Arch. The kids did really well on the other hikes but were getting tired by Sunday. They had a rough time on this hike. They were kind of grumpy, but we all still had fun.
Paul and Colin under the arch
Everything up at the arch is pretty steep. I was a nervous wreck the whole time. I was so afraid one of the kids(or my dad) was going to fall. I couldn't watch when any of them walked over to the arch. I held on tight to the kids the whole time and asked my dad to stand somewhere "safer" a few times. I don't know what my problem was or why it was so bad this time. This was the one place I felt okay with the kids. When they were down in the crack between two rocks....I felt safe they wouldn't fall.
We had a little picnic before starting our drive back home.
