Colin had his first taste of a little powder today.
Today was also the first day that he skied without the worm but we don't have a video of that. They did 3 runs and then were getting ready to leave at 4:28 and Colin started crying that he wanted to do another run. So they hurried to the lift and were able to get one more run in.

Grandpa!
Grandpa came to visit us last weekend and the kids had SOOO much fun having him here. Colin got to take Grandpa skiing and was excited to race him down the hill.
Colin also got to show Grandpa his gymnastics class. Here's Audrey with Grandpa at gymnastics.

Valentine's Day
Colin was really excited for Valentine's this year. He couldn't wait for it to come. He loved making his box for school and making treats for his friends and cards for his grandparents.
We made heart shaped crayons for the kids to give out to their classmates at daycare
We made Valentine's boxes for them to get their Valentines in at daycare
We made cut out cookies(attempted with whole wheat flour, not very good)
(lots of eating of frosting instead of putting it on the cookie)

Skiing day 7
He's doing better each time he goes. He does almost the entire hill by himself now. He loves to go and asks to go all the time.

Balance beams, trampolines, and parallel bars!
Yes....Colin is taking gymnastics....well, maybe. We'd been thinking about wanting to get Colin involved in some sort of class. We decided that we'd try gymnastics since he loves somersaults and tumbling so much. We had tried the classes at Little Gym and Gymboree but they just weren't what we were looking for. We decided to go to an actual gymnastics gym. Just as we were about to book him in a class, the gym we were looking at came up on Groupon. It worked out perfectly, we could try it out without it costing too much.
The first class did not go well. I was "that mom" that everyone feels sorry for and that makes non parents never want to have kids. I picked the kids up from daycare and headed to the class that started at 4. I had Audrey with me, that was the first mistake. The gym is pretty big and there are seven classes going on at once. Most of them start out on the floor warming up and stretching together. That meant about 100 kids on the floor at once, plus all their parents seated by watching. Colin was immediately too overwhelmed. After about 15 minutes they separated into individual classes. Colin's class is 5 boys ages 3-5 with one teacher, parents don't participate. Colin still wouldn't have anything to do with it. However, he REALLY wanted to but was just too scared. This lead to major meltdowns and temper tantrums....the kicking and screaming on the ground type. He didn't want to participate but didn't want to leave so we stayed and watched the class.
The following week we decided Paul would take him, without Audrey. Colin does better with these type of things with daddy. It took 30 minutes but he finally decided he wanted to do it. And he LOVED it. It's all he's talked about since. "I want to go again." If we ask him if he wants to go to gymnastics he'll scream "YEAH!!!"

It has still taken a lot of coaxing to get him out on the floor but we're making progress. This week we're back to me taking him and having Audrey with me because the class is too early in the day for Paul to be able to go regularly. We have a couple more weeks left on our Groupon then we'll decide if we're going to continue.

Colin's (big) big boy bed
We made a deal with Colin that once he filled up his sticker chart for dry pants at night that he would get a new Cars bed. He got the bedding for Christmas but still hadn't filled the chart so we hadn't gotten the bed yet. He went a week straight with dry pants and ended up filling the chart the day we were leaving for Saint George. All weekend he asked when we were going to get his bed. We had to do it right away when we got back. We purchased a full size mattress. We converted his crib into the bed and Paul built the frame and rails for it. We put Cars wall decals on the headboard to make it a "Cars bed".
First night on his new mattress but before bed is built

Renewing Licenses and random pictures
Paul and I were both due to get our driver's licenses renewed this year before our birthdays. We decided to all go together and get Audrey's ID card too. We went to the office where Paul used to work. They let Colin take our pictures for us. He loved it.

The Tortoises are Hibernating
I'm really behind in posting but a couple weekends ago we went to Saint George. We went with some new friends that we met at church. They have two little kids also, a boy that's Colin's age and a girl that's Audrey's age. We got a big condo and all stayed together. The weather was upper 50s and sunny. We stayed at the condos that we stayed at last time and they have an indoor pool. The kids LOVED the trip! We had a lot of fun too.
We were able to get out for a bike ride on Bearclaw Poppy while the kids were napping. It was so nice to get out. I'm in this picture below.
Riding bikes
Enjoying the nice weather at the playground at the condo
We went hiking again at Snow Canyon. We really like the park. We were able to go on some hikes we couldn't last time because the tortoises are hibernating. Audrey slept through this first hike.

One night we went out for pizza....it was yummy
Swimming in the "indoor" pool. It was like in a greenhouse. It wasn't very warm. Actually, it was pretty cold.
Having brownies for dessert
Hiking again. We were hiking on lava rock and my shoe/pants got all tangled up in the rock and Audrey and I almost tumbled. Luckily I had other people around to help me get my balance. I felt like a first time hiker.
Before we left for home on Sunday we went to the park and had lunch. It was great park for the kids. They loved it.
