Big Boy Bed

Colin is sleeping in a toddler bed now! I have always been in the mindset that I wanted to keep him in his crib until he was climbing out. I just felt better knowing that he was "stuck" while we were sleeping. I didn't have to worry about anything. However, he wasn't showing any signs of ever climbing out. I realized that eventually I would just have to move him, just because he was too old to sleep in a crib anymore. I decided that we'd switch his crib sometime this summer. We are heading to NY in August and he won't have a crib there. I wanted to make sure he was used to sleeping with "freedom" before we went. We took a trip to Moab a few weeks ago and were lucky to have 2 pack n plays while we were there. However, we're going to St George in a few weeks and he won't have a pack n play. So we decided that we'd switch the crib now.

We made the switch a couple of weeks ago(I'm just getting around to posting about it). It has gone as easily as I could have ever hoped. He has still gone down for bedtime and his naps the same as always. No problems. The first few mornings he would just call for us to come get him when he woke up. He is now getting up and coming out looking for us. He has a toddler alarm clock and knows that it isn't time to get up unless the "green light is on". He has been wonderful about abiding by that. We haven't had any issues with him getting up too early with his new "freedom".

He is so cute when he gets up. He grabs all of his stuffed animals and drags them out into the living room saying "green light on, time to get up".

I am glad we waited and glad that it went so smoothly. I hope it stays that way!

Playing on the swing on a day of decent weather




We all went for a bike ride along the Jordan River Parkway. It was a really nice ride. We rode about 12 miles. The kids did great. We stopped at a park along the way for them to play and they loved it.


We took turns pulling the kids on the trailer. It rides really smoothly but I got the best workout with them. I had them when we were going uphill(gently) and against a strong wind. I felt like I had a parachute on the back of my bike.

We took the kids to the park one day. Mom played with them on the playground while Paul and I went running in Dimple Dell(and saw a coyote). After our run Colin got to fly his kite.

She's a climber

She is so much more daring than Colin ever was. She topples this chair over almost daily. She climbs up on everything. She can climb up Colin's stool and try to climb on the counter so we had to put his stool away. We definitely have to keep an eye on her.

Easter!

We have had a nice Easter holiday. Last weekend my work had an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Audrey and Colin both had a lot of fun.

Colin had so much fun looking for eggs.


He found one of the "special" eggs and got this stuffed frog that he loves


Audrey didn't get the whole idea of "hunting" for eggs but she had a lot of fun picking up and playing with the few that were right around her.






One of my coworkers dressed up as the Easter Bunny. Colin did really well with him.


But Audrey was terrified and we had to sit down also to even attempt a picture.


There was a really nice playground at the park that the hunt was at. It rained a little bit while we were hunting for eggs but then it was beautiful and the kids had a ton of fun at the park






Before my mom left we decorated eggs with the kids.






Today was Easter Sunday. We made baskets for the kids and hid eggs in the house. Colin had SOOO much fun running around and finding eggs. Audrey found her own basket which was a surprise to me.

We went to church this morning at City Church. We've been going there for about 6 months now and really like it. It was a great service. The kids got all dressed up and looked so cute. Getting a picture of them is another story though.




Audrey's dress was a gift from Aunt Nancy. She got it last year. It is so fun to find things in the closet that were gifts but in bigger sizes. She looked so cute.

The kids took really good naps after church and then we went to Tara and Ben's for dinner.

Audrey's Birthday Celebration: Part 2

Last Saturday we had a little birthday party for Audrey.

We sang "Happy Birthday" and blew out her candle




Colin helped her eat her cake. He actually helped her too much. She wouldn't have nearly eaten as much without his help.




Then she opened presents. She enjoyed it but Colin helped a lot.






And played with the presents. She had fun but Colin LOVED them
