Hogle Zoo

Over the weekend we headed out to the zoo with Paul's dad, Sheri, Jen, Jason and all the kids. I was worried that it was going to be a disaster. There was so much potential for things to go wrong but it went really well. We all had a lot of fun and didn't have any major meltdowns. The kids were all up past nap time but took great naps when we got home. (well, Colin actually fell asleep in the car but continued his nap once we got home)

When we got in we headed over to the elephants to see the "elephant show". It wasn't much of a show. Mostly it was just an educational discussion about the elephants while the elephants stood around. However, we did get to see them, and the baby, which was good because we have missed them many times we've gone.

Afterwards we went to the bird show. It was a great show, just as we remembered it from last 4th of July. Actually I think it was exactly the same show we saw last year. All the kids really enjoyed watching the birds flying overhead.

Next we took the kids to the carousel. Tyler wanted the lion so Natalie and Colin got on animals in the same row. Colin is still unsure of carousels as you can see in this picture.

However, he did end up enjoying it after that initial freak out.
When we finished with that we realized it was lunch time and ordered pizzas. We couldn't believe the whole morning was gone already and we hadn't really seen much of the zoo.

After lunch we walked around to see the animals and then headed home. Our year pass to the zoo is now expired. We'll probably renew it again. Colin loves to go and it's a fun day out of the house for him.
