Potty Training

Wow....I think Colin might be potty trained.

Over the last couple of months Paul had a a few different people talk to him about potty training earlier vs later. He decided he wanted to give it a try. I kind of thought he was crazy but after doing a little research figured it was worth a try. We told daycare we were thinking about it and his teacher said "I totally think he is ready". We decided we would go with the "three day potty training" method. We'd put him in underwear for a long weekend and do nothing but sit home and work on potty training. I told Paul we could do it but he had to take full responsibility for whatever happened. So I guess he gets full credit for it working.

Paul was home by himself with the kids on Friday. He had Colin in underwear. It took awhile to get any of the peeing to happen in the potty. It was a long day and they went through around 20 pairs of big boy underwear. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday all kept getting better. It started being easier to tell when he was going to go and he would tell us some of the time that he had to go. He had remained dry for all his naps during the weekend but had woken up wet in each morning. We were very nervous about the first day back to daycare on Tuesday.

Tuesday morning Colin woke up dry and told Paul a few minutes later that he had to go potty. He had a perfect day at daycare. He told them every time he had to go and came home in the same underwear he went in. Wednesday morning he woke up wet and he did have 2 accidents at daycare that day. Thursday he woke up at 5 am calling us to take him to the potty. He went and then went right back to sleep. He woke up dry. He had another perfect day at daycare and at home tonight.

He's been doing so great. He gets stickers to put on a chart each time that he goes in the potty. He loves the stickers. He can't wait to get another sticker to put on his chart. We also started out with giving him an m&m when he would go on the potty but we're working on weaning off of those.

I can't believe how great he has done. I am so proud of him. He is getting to be such a big boy. I hope this sticks.

Here is my cute little boy in his new big boy underwear.
